"Roo-Wah"
I give him all the credit for why i am so into hockey the way i am. His bobblehead was the first ever hockey collector i ever had, thanks mom by the way. He made me want to play goalie when i was in floor hockey or when my brother wanted to shoot the puck in the driveway, which never believe your brother when he say's "oh you'll be fine" in the net with no protection and they play ice hockey, they act like your forhead is one with the net. I always have found him to be so fascinating and intresting and the greatest ever. I know there are plenty of great goalies out there like a Hextall or Dryden or Plante. But Patrick Roy was just so different he did his own thing always, he deservingly won the Stanley Cup 4 times two times with the Canadiens and two with the Avalanche but Montreal was where he first would shine and make an amazing change in his life from being a young scrowny goalie to one of the greatest goalies ever.I mean the man did the butterfly when his coach urged him to stop, that style is becoming more and more huge nowto amoungest goalies. His dad wrote a book about him that i bought and finished so fast because i thought his life was so intresting i didn't want to put it down. He literlly inspires me and i don't even play hockey but he is the reason i am so passionate for the game, Why i appriciate goalies so much adn how hard there position actually is.
"How would you like a job where, every time you make a mistake, a big red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?"- Jacques Plante
I am a HUGE Chicago Blackhawks fan HUGE, but i was always intrested when i was younger in the Av's because that's who he played for then and i was like "oh yeah i love them," but really i just loved seeing Roy, and i always will have a spot for Montreal in my life, knowing that's where he like became ROY, which is very uncommon for people these days noone willingly picks them as there number 2 team, Ha. But as i got older i realized you start to learn more and more about all teams and all players and if i want to love more then just who plays for what team i was raised up on, i will do just that. No one can tell me differently because i know more now than i have ever about the game and more then just saying oh yeah, Go Hawks, i'm from Chicago so i'll cheer you on. I see what it takes for them to get the status they get and all the different thing's different teams go through and it's so cool to understand it.
I this year actually, like a crazy fan, wrote Roy (my idol) and rewrote what i wanted to say like 4 times before i sent it so i didn't tell him my life but i was seriously like on cloud nine when my mom texted me a picture of the envelope from Quebec i was like "No way." Now i don't know how writting players works these day's especially for retired players i'm sure they don't just sit around reading them and typing individual letters to people, but i like to think the vague little letter i got was "just for me" as if he was saying it to me. I know pathetic right. He is the one person in the world i tell everyone i WILL meet him before i die and i will have him autograph me and get it tattoo'd you wait and see. I mean it doesn't hurt to have dreams or goals, eh?
I mean i could ramble on for hours about this man who has made me the hockey fan i am today but, how much can one take of this Roy talk?
